More album news....
Progress on the new record has been slow but steady. 90% of the lyrics are finished, which is a big accomplishment for me. That area has been the main struggle, so far. I also have created scratch tracks for each song in Logic. This album will have six of them. Each scratch track is essentially a song in its most primitive form. I create MIDI tracks for the main instruments and play them myself (which is less than stellar) and use drum software or a beatbox loop to create the drum tracks. Once some vocals and a bit of production (horn arrangements/synth patches) are added, the tracks are sent to members of my stellar band. They record their parts at their home studios and e-mail me their performances — which I then compile and mold into the finished product.
It is definitely a test of endurance on every level: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and creatively. But, I am grateful to have something to pour my heart into (besides my cat, Sally). I also have decided on a name for the album…….”Dug.” It’s obviously a play on my name but is also the past tense of ‘dig’ - which is hipster/jazz/hippie lingo for liking something. And, I’m a gardener during the warmer months so, I do a lot of actual digging - which I dig :).
Thanks for being interested in my work. This is an intensely personal endeavor but a major part of it is knowing I will be affecting people’s humours with the melodies, chords, vibes/frequencies, etc. that I create. And I choose to do that in the most positive way possible. Without you, it would be futile. Your interest means the world to me. Stay tuned. So much more to come.
